We create spaces where holiness flourishes and music gives wings to prayer;
rooted in tradition and open to experiment, where people can encounter God
individually and as part of a loving community.
Our Friday night and Saturday morning services offer an array of experiences all rooted in music, spirit, and love. Services vary in style and timing to suit all different tastes, and we encourage everyone, members and guests alike, to join us for all.
Our Friday night Shabbat services include Family First Shabbat, Kabbalat Shabbat, Shir Joy Music Shabbat, and Shabbat in the Park.
Our Saturday morning Shabbat services include our special Nishma service (see below) led by Rabbi Chabon, our B’nai Mitzvahs, and our Religious School class services.
Come join us! You can find upcoming services on our calendar.
Family First Shabbat First Friday of every month
First Fridays at CBT are tailored to our children and families. At 5:30 we have a sweet Tot Shabbat service for the littlest members of our community, which is held on the floor of the sanctuary with songs, guitar and short prayers and stories. This 20-25 minute service is followed by kiddush, motzi, and a delicious community dinner in the social hall. At 6:30 we return to the sanctuary for a Family Service geared towards school-aged kids with lots of singing and familiar prayers. Bring your families and join us for a joyful beginning to the month!
During summer months, Family First Shabbat becomes Shabbat in the Park. Join us with a blanket and picnic dinner to enjoy a beatiful, family-friendly, and casual service at the park.
Yoga Havdalah First Saturday of every month
Replenish your body and soul as you end Shabbat and prepare to start a fresh week. Join Senior Yoga Instructor David Moreno and Rabbi Jennie Chabon for a one-of-a-kind experience as we weave together yoga, song, and Torah in a beautiful and meaningful celebration of Havdalah.
Kabbalat Shabbat Second Friday of every month
Join Rabbi Chabon for a virtual service to welcome Shabbat into our homes. This early service will end just in time for you to light candles and have a nice Shabbat meal with your family.
Nishma Second Saturday of every month
Nishma, Hebrew for “we will listen,” is a beautifully-constructed Jewish world music experience. This incredible service, which is a hybrid of Reform and Conservative traditions, was conceptualized and designed by our wonderful Rabbi Chabon, where she is in her truest form. The music is spectacular with guitar accompaniment by Lisa Zeiler, the Torah reading is always moving, the teachings Rabbi weaves through the service are enriching, and her sermons will leave you thinking of our world in a slightly different way. This service is truly magical!
Shir Joy Third Friday of every month
Shir Joy is our Musical Shabbat service. The rabbi is joined by professional musicians on the bima who infuse our sanctuary with beautiful music and spirit. Many of the melodies used during the service can be heard on the CDs which Rabbi Chabon has created – Shirei Tikvah, Shir Joy, and Roots and Branches. Our Shir Joy service is held on the third Friday of every month.
Community-Led Service Fourth Friday of every month
Once a month, we come together on Zoom, each one of us in our homes, in a service where our congregants share in the experience of leading our community. This service encapsulates the warmth, tenderness, and care that we hold in our community for one another as we celebrate and rejoice in each other. Each service highlights different members of our community who rise to the occasion of sharing their talents and love through singing, chanting, reading, creative writing, or playing an instrument for us.
In response to the Shelter In Place order, CBT is live streaming Friday night services. You do not need a Facebook account to watch (but you will need a Facebook account to comment or share reactions).
If you do not see the live stream after you think it should have started, simply REFRESH this page.
