What is gratitude? What does it mean to be grateful for the good things that we have, even when we are experiencing suffering as well? In a world of endless bounty, how do we learn to appreciate what we do have rather than fixate on what we don’t.
In this seminar, we will explore these questions through the lens of The Little Prince. We will travel the universe with the Prince and the Pilot, studying how they relate to new experiences and how those experiences alter their perspectives on life. We will delve into the profound and difficult questions this seemingly simple story raises about the nature of the moral universe, free will, and the relationship between gratitude and grieving. And lastly, we will ask what it really means to “grow up,” and whether that process ever comes to an end.
