Guidelines
- Establish chapter leadership—presidents prepared to lead with conviction and organize diligently
- 1–3 presidents submit meeting summaries, attendance information, and expenses for dinners, reading materials, venue reservations, and more through our Salesforce portal
- Ensure that a succession plan is in place so that the chapter lasts beyond your graduation date
- Upon successful completion of these expectations, Chapter Presidents receive a $250 stipend
- Pursue a discussion curriculum—a series of essays, books, video lectures, podcasts, policy proposals, and more—over the course of an academic year or semester
- Every campus has its own matters of interest; there is no exhaustive list of “approved” sources. Tikvah will guide you in curating sources relevant to your chapter
- Browse our reading suggestions, explore the library at Tikvah Ideas, or suggest additional texts from the Jewish and Western canons
- Meet regularly—maintain a consistent schedule of intellectually rigorous discussions.
- In many cases—and only if you decide it’s useful—we can hire guest lecturers to facilitate discussions
- Join the wider Tikvah network—send delegations to national events, including our Redstone Leadership Forum held in New York City in early winter
Get Started
To receive an official charter from Tikvah, Chapters must compile four items:
- A list of 1-3 Chapter Presidents responsible for meeting the expectations above
- A list of students who will make up the chapter’s core–at least four members who commit to attend regular meetings, prepared for substantive discussions
- A tentative schedule of the semester’s meetings and topics of discussion
- An estimated semester budget to cover dinner, books, printed materials, speakers, and more
